Did Ghanaian Chef Faila Pay For Her Guiness World Record Attempt??
Did Chef Faila(Cook-a-thon Record Participant 2024) Pay Guinness World Records, And Why?
Today is the 7th Day of Chef Failatu's Cook-a-thon World Record attempt, with over 150 hours if cooking already completed. Since her attempt debuted, there has being very little or no speculations over whether or not Chef Faila paid for her world record attempt or not.
Is Guiness World Record Free?
An official statement from the Guiness World Records official website says this,
"Our Standard (free) Application route is only available to individuals or small groups whose primary purpose for attempting a record is personal achievement.Organizations or individuals seeking to attempt a record for commercial purposes (e.g. to promote a business, to gain fans/supporters, to fundraise etc.) are required to enter a paid-for agreement managed by our Consultancy Services Division. This is so we can help you find the right record title, verify your record attempt, and give you the opportunity to license the use of our official logos to promote your initiative."
Basically, Guiness World Records provides a standard pay-free record attempt as well as a paid-for record attempt under their Consultancy Services. Each of these attempts exploits different advantages and initiatives, as stated in the report above.
Another report also describes the Guiness World Records Consultancy Services stating that,
"Every year our in-house consultancy helps thousands of brands, businesses and organizations to engage global audiences, create captivating, shareable content and tell authentic stories that generate genuine media impact, all through the unique lens of record breaking.Whatever the brief, whether it’s for an on-site event or a digital campaign, our experts can help you find an official record title to meet your objectives."
Did Chef Faila Pay Guinness World Records?
Since Chef Faila, CEO of Mickey's Inn, started her official record attempt on 1st January, 2024 till now, there has been various events that has transpired at her event, that seeminly were expected to occur at the World Record attempt by Ghanaian supporters. These events include, performances from various local music artistes,
celebrities, music bands and dance groups. Apparently, media sponsors have taken advantage of these events to promote their channel as well as some artistes present at the event. It also appears that there are some organizations sponsoring Chef Failatu's Cook-a-thon Record attempt, in the likes of NASCO, Electroland Ghana Limited(EGL) And Home-Land as can be seen in the picture below.
Chef Faila has also highly publicized her social media handles on some of her posters, as well as posting stories of her official attempt on her social media pages, attracting thousands of followers across social media platforms. On the other hand, Chef Faila has apparently raised funds from incoming financial support from supporters and dignitaries, among which include, His Exellency Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patrotic Party and Akosua Frema-Opare, Ghana's Chief Of Staff.
Taking these events into consideration, which utilises the logo and brand of Guinness World Records for seeminly commercial purposes, it can be said that Chef Faila's Cook-a-thon record attempt is beyond standard attempt requisites and hence it is more likely Chef Faila and her team are supported by Guinness World Records Consultancy Services Division, under a paid-for agreement.
If Chef Failatu's Cook-a-thon Record attempt is officially a standard attempt, it evident that these transpired might risk the verification of her record attempt, as stated earlier in the Guinness World Records statement and might likely be rejected.
Allegedly, Afua Asantewaa's Sing-a-thon campaign in December 2023 might also have been under Guinness World Records Consultancy Services Division, as a paid-for agreement.
